Currently, Cena Vegan is my favorite vegan spot in L.A. I went to Highland Park and visited their stand. I met with one of the owners, Carmen, and she showed off their excellent food. I tried their street tacos, nachos, and fat burrito. Check them out on FB and IG: @CenaVegan
I got to stop in and try Frida's vegan restaurant in St. Louis and it was awesome. They have a pretty varied menu of food items. Their food filled me up but wasn't heavy at all because they don't use oils in their cooking. If you're in the area check them out!
I got to meet up with Compton Vegan himself and try his delicious food. It was superb. Vegan Compton delivers food all around Los Angeles but is prepared in Compton, CA. You can order his food from facebook.com/comptonvegan and instagram.com/comptonvegan
Los Angeles Airport now has a vegan restaurant! Its tucked back in Terminal 4 and its super delicious. I tried their RFD burger and my friend tried their burrito bowl. We gave our review. The food was excellent. Definitely worth checking out on your next layover.
This Pub serves only vegan food. Not only is their food visually stunning, it also tastes outstanding. I tried their tater tot nachos, Impossible Burger, and their Loco Moko bowl(favorite vegan dish in L.A. right now.) The Loco Moco Bowl is like a jasmine fried rice with bits of #impossiblemeat cooked into it. It is crazy good and very unique. At Beelman's is Los Angeles' newest vegan restaurant located Downtown on Spring St.
Green New American Vegetarian in Phoenix, AZ. serves delicious vegan "fast food". Their menu represents all the different popular fast food and comfort food meals that are popular in America. We tried their tacos, their "Big-Wac" cheeseburger, buffalo chicken tenders and their Blizzard-esque "Tsoynami" milkshake. It was all very delectable. If you end up in Phoenix, definitely check out Green.
On this Boston layover, I was able to head to Cambridge and try out Veggie Galaxy. Never have I seen such an extensive, yet consistently delicious vegan menu. My friends, Alex and David, are both of the carnivorous persuasion and were absolutely floored by the food. We tried everything from chicken and waffles, to a seitan rueben! The assistant manager, Tom, was kind enough to sit down and show off some of the great desserts. The dessert menu at Veggie Galaxy is as delicious as it is long. All airline pilots and flight attendants need to hit this vegan spot asap!
On our layover in San Jose, CA., The crew and I ordered food from the vegan food delivery service Veganation. They brought us a massive feast of ribs, fried chicken, corn bread and truffle mac and cheese. It was all completely vegan of course. The entire crew was shocked at how realistic it all tasted. I have never eaten such amazing vegan chicken before. If you get a San Jose layover, head over to beveganation.com and order yourself some Southern comfort food!
It was a good ol' fashion veggie burger showdown! We compared the two most realistic veggie burgers in the world against each other. Umami Burger's "Impossible Burger" against Veggie Grill's "Beyond Burger". We decided what tastes better and what tasted most realistic. We shot this video in Santa Monica. Since we are both vegetarians we grabbed some random dude off the street to get a meat eater's point of view!
If you get a Salt Lake City layover, make sure to stop by Bud's Sandwich shop in Salt Lake City. I'm not sure if I have had a better vegan sandwich before. Two of my friends from work decided to join and gave their opinion on the food as well
Tokyo has a quickly growing vegan scene and I was able to try a ton of amazing food. From Rame at T's Tan Tan and soy pork rice bowls at Tamana Shokudo to vegan rice balls at 7-11. The vegan food is very diverse in Tokyo. While it wasn't the easiest place to be vegan, I am definitely planning on returning to Japan again soon.
Today we set a record and picked up 18 dogs from LAX - Los Angeles International Airport that were rescued from the Chinese slaughterhouses and sent to California. Visit Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation in Sherman Oaks and meet them yourself! Animalhopeandwelnness.org
I went to upgrade training this past month to become a captain! Subsequently I was going to be living out of a hotel for several weeks. Cooked food wouldn't really hold up so I packed a bunch of vegan food that doesn't need preparation or refrigeration. Besides the obvious choice of PBJ and almonds, I brought some of my favorite vegan meal and protein supplements.
